Medicare Advantage Plans (also called Medicare Part C) are plans offered by private health insurance companies that provide the same coverage as Medicare Part A and Part B and may include additional benefits.
A Medigap policy is different from a Medicare Advantage Plan. Those plans are ways to get Medicare benefits, while a Medigap policy only supplements your Original Medicare benefits. You pay the private insurance company a monthly Premium for your Medigap policy.
Prescription Drug plans (also called Part D) is an optional prescription drug program for people on Medicare. Medicare Part D is simply insurance for your medication needs. You pay a monthly premium to an insurance carrier for your Part D plan.
